Pathways to the Future
The Swannanoa Valley Museum’s exhibits will take you down a pathway through time to see how this Valley has been used as a conduit for animals and humans for thousands of years.
Exhibits include:
- The animals and plants of the region
- Early hunters and gatherers, Cherokee
- Pioneer settlement
- Stage coach and drover’s path
- The coming of the railroad
- Into the 20th century—paved roads, automobiles and development
- The pathways of today
The Swannanoa Valley Museum also has changing and traveling exhibits and participates in an annual themed exhibit with Museums in Partnership and Friends of Mountain History.
The Museum will open for its 20th season on April 11, 2009 with the themed Exhibit, “That’s a Long Row to Hoe, Appalachian Agricultural Traditions and Foodways.”
